For my own clarification, please.  NYT puzzles' daily difficulty rating is confusing to me in light of the fact that the puzzles' levels of difficulty increase throughout the week, culminating Saturdays.  Does the daily rating reflect the level of difficulty for the particular day or for the week in general. For example, a Medium rating awarded on a Tuesday may not reflect the same level of difficulty as a Medium rating on a Saturday puzzle---or does it???
